At Immutable, we are committed to maintaining the integrity of our ecosystem and providing a secure experience for all users. As part of this commitment, we are exploring the implementation of measures to block temporary email domains within Immutable Passport. This initiative aims to strengthen platform security and create a safer environment for legitimate users.
Why Block Temporary Email Domains?
Blocking temporary email domains will help us achieve several important goals:
-
Prevent the Loss of Funds
Temporary email addresses can pose a risk to users, particularly if access to the email is lost. To protect user funds, we’re enhancing bot detection systems to prevent some users (including those using temporary emails) from signing into Immutable Passport. Impacted users will need to wait for resolution. -
Prevent Fraudulent Account Creation
Temporary email domains are often exploited by bots and malicious actors to create multiple fraudulent accounts rapidly. By blocking these domains, we reduce the likelihood of fraudulent activity. -
Curtail Bot Activity
Limiting the use of temporary email addresses helps us control bot activity, reducing the potential for harmful actions that can affect the platform. -
Strengthen Platform Security
This measure enhances the security of the platform by mitigating fraud and minimizing bot-driven actions, ultimately providing a more reliable and trustworthy environment for our users.
