Burn mechanics in NFTs refer to a mechanism by which NFTs can be permanently disabled from individual ownership (meaning, they can no longer be withdrawn, transferred, purchased, or sold).
Note - Nothing can be permanently deleted from the Blockchain, the primary method for disabling an NFT is to burn it.
Here are the steps to Burn an NFT:
1. Visit tools.immutable.com/link-reference and select these options:
Mainnet
Transfer
Add Token
ERC721
2. Then input the following details:
Token ID: (this can be found via Immutascan or by copying the numbers after “/assets” when viewing your NFT on the Immutable X Marketplace e.g. https://market.immutable.com/collections/0x79251c8c35a39ed07671f200ab4d31188ff05e34/assets/XXXXToken Address(Collection Address): (e.g. as seen above 0x79251c8c35a39ed07671f200ab4d31188ff05e34)Recipient: (enter our burn address: 0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000)
Once you’ve filled this in, click “Call Method” and if all the details are correct the NFT will be removed from your wallet.
